Sleep shouldn’t be considered a luxury – it’s a necessity. At DeerFields Clinic, we know lost sleep can take a serious toll on our health, now and in the future. It’s why we discuss the importance of sleep with our clients and take it seriously ourselves.

Sleep deprivation causes fatique and low energy, leaves us in a bad mood, and can cause neurological disturbances such as blurred vision and memory lapses. It may also contribute

to heart health concerns and diabetes, can lead to weight gain, and may even be a factor in the development of Alzheimer’s disease.

It’s time to take sleep seriously. Most of us need seven to eight hours of quality sleep each night — and if you’re not achieving this amount regularly, it’s important to identify any contributing factors and to try to correct them. Sometimes it’s our own bad habits that rob us of sleep; sometimes there’s an underlying medical reason; and sometimes insomnia strikes, making it impossible to fall asleep or stay asleep, leaving us tired, grouchy, and feeling completely out of sorts.
